One can go from rn to bsn online programs if they have would like to invest in their education. Chamberlain College of Nursing does offer an online accredited rn to bsn online programs, but some clinical off-site credits are required. It is however a viable option. Another option is to take prerequisites at a community college and transfer to a BSN program at a local four-year university. The major drawback to most inexpensive, short rn to bsn online programs are the degrees are granted by a college that is not accredited and is, therefore, pretty worthless. I would question any RN’s motives for obtaining the advanced degree if the aim is to just get to the higher level cheaply and with as little effort as possible with the end result being more money in the bank.

The nursing profession is a highly skilled one and very demanding. Nurses who do not understand this and are not devoted to the medical care, treatment and well-being of their patient’s ought to opt for an entirely different career.

A patient expects a nurse to be knowledgeable in their field, skilled in treating them and above all caring. Those who are in it for the money alone probably don’t even think about the patient’s needs. Wow! Please find something else to do to make a living and leave the nursing to those who care.

So, back to the education requirements and the rn to bsn online programs, The less you pay for the program, the more likely the degree granting school is not accredited or held in any esteem, will be at least three to four semesters in length and will require many prerequisites before beginning the program. You may also run into some programs that require many credits of non-nursing related classes that the particular educational institution demands you take that are relevant to its mission, such as courses in religion or a particular philosophy.

The Chamberlain College of Nursing is accredited and well regarded. If you do not have a lot of transferable credits in general education, you would have to spend the time and money at either or both a community college or university – also time consuming and expensive.

When you reach your conclusion, you will find the best route for you to take and just possibly make a positive difference in the life of a sick person, or choose another profession entirely, which may ultimately also make a positive difference in the life of a sick person.
